Often times missionaries are given a battery of tests for their debriefing from field service but until the development of the MKWI there were few tools to validate the MK's experience on the field as well as provide a snapshot of their wellness.  For those working with MK's, such as dorm parents, administrators, counselors or parents, the MKWI can serve as a useful tool to indicate a student's wellness and provide important topics for discussion.  The MKWI is meant to be a tool to provide a model for wellness so that a MK taking the assessment will see how they are doing well in many areas and gather ideas about how they can improve their wellness in other areas.

The MKWI is based on a sample of 135, 7th - 12th grade MK's in a boarding school in Africa.

For information about the development of the MKWI see the research article:
The Reliability and Validity of the Missionary Kid Wellness Inventory

In development is a Student Wellness Inventory for students attending a Christian University.  The results will be available here when the research is complete.
